Author you've read the most books from: Oh goodness. I have absolutely no idea. *goes to Goodreads to count* Turns out it's Erynn Mangum!
Best sequel ever: Scarlet by Marissa Meyer - I loved it so much more than Cinder (and it was fabulous itself)!
Currently reading: Is It Just Me? by Miranda Hart, The Pursuit of Tamsin Littlejohn by Lori Benton
Drink of choice while reading: Tea or Dr Pepper
E-reader or physical book: Both! A bigger fan of physical books, however I cannot tell a lie, I love my ereader a great deal.
Fictional character you probably would have actually dated in high school? Um, as I never dated in high school....I have no idea?
Glad you gave this book a chance: It Happened At the Fair by Deeann Gist - I'd tried her other books and hadn't been able to finish one. Until this one. I couldn't put it down until the very last page!
Hidden gem book: My Heart Came Away Red by Lisa McKay - Hardly anyone I know has even heard of this book! And it's one of my absolute favorites. I don't even remember how I stumbled across it a few years ago.
I (There's not a question for this letter??)
Just finished: The Good Girl by Christy Barritt
Kind of books you won't read: Horror
Longest book you've read: ?????
Major book hangover because of: Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge
Number of bookcases you own: 3 and I could use more. Also! I have lots of books stacked on non-bookcase pieces of furniture.
One book you read multiple times: Court Duel by Sherwood Smith
Preferred place to read: In bed or my favorite chair
Quote you like from a book you read: "There comes a time when the world gets quiet and the only thing left is your own heart. So you'd better learn the sound of it. Otherwise you'll never understand what it's saying." Sarah Dessen, The Truth About Forever
Reading regret: Not enough time to read as much as I'd like!
Series you started and need to finish: The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer - Because they haven't all been published and I need them to be! Like NOW.
Three of your all time favorite books: My Hands Came Away Red by Lisa McKay, Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge, The Colonel's Lady by Laura Frantz (and many, many, many, many more.)
Unapologetic fangirl for: Lisa McKay and My Hands Came Away Red (Yes! I'm mentioning it again.)
Very excited for this release more than all the others: Winter by Marissa Meyer (Although there are plenty of others I'm just as excited about!)
Worst bookish habit: Reading the last few pages of a book before I've read the middle. (I know! Nobody understands why I do this.)
X marks the spot: I do use bookmarks. But also whatever may be handy. As in, bits of paper, tissues, other books, etc.
Your latest book purchase: A Lady Cyclist's Guide to Kashgar by Suzanne Joinson
Zzzz snatcher book: Random Acts of Murder by Christy Barritt (My advice: Do not read murder mysteries late at night, but do read this book sometime during the day. It's great!) I really need to get my review written...
PS. I saw this over at Bluerose's and decided to join in. You should too! :)
So much fun! I might have to do this soon too :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jamie! You should. :)
DeleteI'd already put My Hands Came Away Red on my list, but I'm moving it up if I can find a copy(I just checked, but my library doesn't have it yet).
ReplyDeleteHa! I didn't even notice the "I" was missing!
I've had some trouble with some of Gist's books, so I'm going to try It Happened at the Fair!
So fun! I love seeing other people's answers on these things AND my reading list grows. :D
It's definitely in my top ten favorite reads ever, Bluerose. I hope you get the chance to read it soon. It's amazing! Incredibly thought-provoking.
DeleteI went back and searched on all the posts you linked to and couldn't find one, so they must not of have noticed either. *shrugs* :)
I hope you enjoy it! It's definitely different than her others. It gives tremendous focus to the history of the Fair and all the goings on. The Fair almost seems to be a character itself. I'm really glad I read it!
I know, right?! My reading list grew by several thanks to this as well. :D
I want to join in... my goodness, I think that's the third time I've thought about posting a blogpost with the same concept as yours. I feel like I should apologize or something :) I liked reading your answers. I found this funny : '' Reading the last few pages of a book before I've read the middle. (I know! Nobody understands why I do this.)''. Well, we're all unique aren't we! :-)
ReplyDeleteHey, no apology necessary! That's the beauty of this blogging thing. Inspiring each other. I'm happy to do that for you. Anytime! Plus my ideas are usually borrowed from someone else, so.... :)
DeleteYes, unique is the word for it. I can't ever explain to someone why I do this, and they can never understand it. *shrugs* It's just something I do. And it doesn't spoil the story for me at all! We all have our thing, right? :)
What a fun post, I might actually steal this idea from you!
ReplyDeleteAbout the Lunar Chronicles, did you hear that in stead of releasing Winter at the beginning of 2015, there´s actually going to be another book out? It's called Fairest and it's about the backstory of Queen Levana (http://www.marissameyer.com/book/fairest-levanas-story/) I'm not amused actually, because that means we'll have to wait even longer for what happens next in the story of Cinder, Scarlett and Cress...
Go right ahead, Birdie! It's a fun post to write. :)
DeleteI did hear about that. And I'm NOT amused either! :( According to Ms. Meyer, it's supposed to give crucial info that will help us understand things that'll happen in Winter, but I really can't imagine that it'll make that much difference. And I'm not one who likes to read books about the villain of a story. *sigh* Plus having a much longer wait....my reaction to that news was a huge "nooooooooooo". I haven't liked the long wait between these books anyway, and now I have an even longer one! So not cool with that. But what can you do....
No, I don't really like reading books about villains either. It seems to be a 'thing' nowadays to give villain's background stories, make them understandable etc. Well, I do like a good redemption story, but I also think that especially a fantasy-sci fi story needs a real villain.
DeleteIt does seem to be thing nowadays, doesn't it? Like you, I like a good redemption story, but a villain is a villain and I'm okay with not understanding why they are. They can just be the villain and not win at the end and I'll be just fine. ;)
