As I'm Currently Reading Persuasion...

I'm just going to leave this here, shall I? ;)

This particular scene...and the way he stares at her...!!!!

I have to have an Anne picture too!
Convenient that Wentworth's in the background though. :D

Persuasion 1995

The Crofts! These two are my favorites (aside from Anne and Wentworth, of course ;). So I had to include them as well. (I know, I'm using actors from a different adaptation. Can't help it! I love these Crofts the best. :)

  1. Aww captain Wentworth. Sigh! That's definitely the best actor that has had the honor of playing that role.

    2. Oh no, I don't agree! Okay, well I agree that he's very attractive, but I didn't like that version of Persuasion nearly as much as the older one with the Crofts you pictured here. I didn't feel that any of the actors or actresses played the parts as well, and it just didn't feel right to me overall. I might need to re-watch it now, I guess; the first time I had really high expectations from the recommendation of a friend, and I was just so disappointed. Maybe if I re-watch it I would at least like it, if still not as much.

    3. I get that, Hannah! This version is strikingly different from the '95 version. And like you, I had really high expectations the first time I watched and ended up severely disappointed! There was several scene changes that truly frustrated me. But after another viewing or two, I grew to like it. So long as I just blatantly skip over the parts I don't like, I admit. Basically, I tend to watch this version for the handsomeness of Rupert as Wentworth and because I love Persuasion so much in general. Plus there are other sweet things about it.

The '95 version has things that bug me as well though, so really, I'm just impatiently waiting for the time when some director and writer will FINALLY give us a really, really fabulous version. (One can hope, right? :)

I love that you posted this, as we've been talking about this actor lately on my blog... because he's going to be in an upcoming Christmas movie on Hallmark titled Crown for Christmas! Hope it's okay if I share my link, I'm just so excited to share!

    1. Yay for a his starring in a Hallmark Christmas movie! I always enjoy those. With him in it, I am certain to love it!

I wonder if it will be another royal prince/princess type story? They seem to do one of those each year.

    2. Net: Thank you! He is pretty sigh-worthy, isn't he? :D

Really? I am so terribly behind on my blog reading. Clearly I need to come visit your posts, especially if they talk about Rupert! And thanks for sharing the link. That makes me doubly excited for the Christmas movies this year!

Persuasion is such a wonderful story, isn't it? I'm not sure how many times I've read it by now, but it definitely remains my favorite Austen. :)
