Happy Birthday, Lucy Maud Montgomery!!

via
As I'm sure you know, Ms. Montgomery was the author of Anne of Green Gables, as well as other stories. But she's more widely known for Anne. And who doesn't love Anne?! One of the best characters ever written (in my opinion :) and the reason why I'd love to go visit Prince Edward Island some day. Today is her birthday (obviously) and I just wanted to give her a shout out. Her Anne books made me a very happy reader when I was young. Actually they still make me a happy reader today! :) And of course, I'm a big fan of the adaptations as well. Ms. Montgomery had an amazing gift and I'm so glad she shared it with the world.
"...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?"
"Kindred spirits are not so scarce as I used to think. It's splendid to find out there are so many of them in the world."
"It was November--the month of crimson sunsets, parting birds, deep, sad hymns of the sea, passionate wind-songs in the pines. Anne roamed through the pineland alleys in the park and, as she said, let that great sweeping wind blow the fogs out of her soul."

Also, I wanted to mention that Eva (from Coffee, Classics, & Craziness) is hosting a Lucy Maud Montgomery Week starting today. I'm sure there will be loads of fun going on, so be sure to check it out! :)
