30 Days of Books :: Day 1

Jenni hosted 30 Days of Books back in May and June, when I wasn't doing much blogging. But now that I'm back, I thought it sounded fun! So I'm going to try it. I should warn you that I probably won't keep up with 30 days all in a row, but I'll keep going as I'm able. Anyhoo! On to the fun stuff! :)

Day 1 :: The best book you read last year

Oh boy. I have to pick only one?! How am I supposed to do that???? I don't think that's possible. So I'm going to cheat, sorry. I'm picking three (well....technically I guess I'm picking five, but three are a series so...)

So! My favorite reads of 2015 are as follows:

15827344

The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater {Which is simply amazing, y'all! The writing swept me into the story immediately, plus Puck and Sean are so worth meeting. This book! Seriously such a great read.}

13206900

Winter by Marissa Meyer {Y'all know I'd been waiting for years for this final book! It's an epic ending to an amazing series.}

341524118512

The Lord of the Rings trilogy by JRR Tolkien {SO glad I finally listened to the audio for this series! Tolkien is a master storyteller, he really is.}

I don't know how everybody else was able to choose only one, but anyway. There you have it! Or should I say 'them' not 'it'? *shrugs* What's the best book you read last year?

  1. I'm glad The Scorpio Races made your list. It's a favorite. Good luck doing these 30 days. Some of them are so hard to answer!

    1. Jenny: I've only written for Day 3 so far and I can already tell some of them will be hard to answer! But it'll be fun anyway. :) Yay for The Scorpio Races!!

  2. I haven't read Scorpio Races or Winter yet. I have read Cinder, though, so I just need to finish the series. I did love LOTR when I read them so I'm glad they made your list! :D

    1. Jenni: Oh you should! You really should. Especially finish the rest of The Lunar Chronicles. That series is definitely one of my very favorites! And yay for LOTR!!! :)

  3. Oh man, The Scorpio Races was definitely towards the top of the list for me, too! I love that book. And, of course, The Lord of the Rings is one of my all-time favorites! It's long overdue for a re-read.

    I haven't read The Lunar Chronicles, mostly because I don't tend to like fairy tale retellings hugely, but I'm thinking more and more that I should at least check out book one...

    1. Serena: Yes! The Scorpio Races is fabulous, isn't it? I admit to being slightly apprehensive about it before starting it, I just wasn't sure if I'd like it. Silly me! I loved it! :)

      If you're not a fan of fairytale retellings, then TLC might not be enjoyable for you. But I personally love them. As you can clearly tell! I don't know if you listen to audiobooks or not, but that's how I started with the series. I listened to Cinder, figuring I could just turn it off if I didn't like it. Only I got hooked pretty much immediately! That may or may not work for you, just thought I'd suggest it.
