Little Letters Eighth Edition

via

Dear Summer, I'm glad you're here. Truly. But seriously now! These temps over 100 degrees are for the birds! I know it's crazy when I'm thankful that it's "cooled down" to 90 in the mornings.

Dear Brown Sandals, in spite of the awful heat outside, I still love wearing you! Thanks for being so comfy. With all the shoes I have, you're the only ones I seem to wear every single day. So that means you're pretty awesome!

Dear Books Waiting To Be Read, I will get to you. Really. I will. But I'm simultaneously wanting to read you badly while not wanting to finish you too soon, so therefore I haven't started you yet. But I will! Promise.

Dear Library, why is it that I put so many books on hold? I have another waiting for me to pick it up, and I'm still not finished with what I have already! Must. Read. Faster.

Dear Pinterest, some of the pins you have are crazy. I can't believe I still laugh over this one every time I read it.

I just keep on saying it and laughing

Dear Real Life Friends, I had so much fun last week! I had plans with lots of you for several days, had awesome conversations, ate great food, and laughed a lot. Thanks for making me happy! But now I have a problem. I wish I had a lot more weeks like that. This week is looking so sad without any plans with you in it.

Dear Mom and Dad, I can't wait to see you soon! So excited that I have my trip planned now. It was a big relief to finally get my plane ticket. Now I just have to patiently wait for the day to arrive. (Since I'm so great at patiently waiting and all. Ha!)

Dear Holiday Week, it's nice to anticipate a long weekend ahead. But the next two days at work look to be crammed with things to do. So go easy on me until Thursday gets here?

Dear Blog Readers, not sure if you ever read comments around here or not, but there's been a lovely lady who has commented several times recently. Well guess what? She just started her very own blog, it's only a few days old! I promise you that you want to go check it out and follow because she's sure to have lovely things to post about. Her name is Ganise and you can follow her over here. Seriously! She's awesome. You won't regret it. :)

Dear Jane Austen Lovers, if you look over to the right side of your screen, there's a little picture announcing Austen in August over at The Book Rat. If you love Jane Austen, you'll want to read her posts for the entire month of August. She'll have guest posts and reviews and giveaways and just loads of fun! I avidly read and loved every discussion last year, so you don't want to miss out. Pencil it on your calendar!

*As always, thanks to Rissi for the idea! And I promise I'm not a copycat. I had already planned to post this week! It was just a happy coincidence you got yours posted first. Great minds think alike and all that. ;)

  1. I have a pair of brown sandals that I love too! It's the fourth pair in a long line of beloved brown sandals -- I wear them all spring, summer, and fall, and am very sad when I have to exchange them for tennies when winter hits. I like the current pair so much, I bought another pair to wear once these wear out in a couple years.

    1. Me too, Hamlette! I actually bought this pair a couple years ago. They replaced two pairs (same style, different colors) that I loved so much they literally had holes in the soles. The holes were where my foot rests so it rubs it wrong. Yeah, I really liked those sandals. ;)

  2. A lovely thing about summer is flip flops(though they can be worn any time of year as long as the weather's right).

The library can be a dangerous place for a book worm. There might be a huge stack at home waiting, but when that new book calls from the library shelf, why suffer the pain of turning away?

Real life friends are such fun, but I don't have many and I don't see them very often *sigh*

    I am following Ganise's blog :-) .

  3. Awwwwww. Kara.

    I'm loss for words.

Thank you so much for the shout out sweet, sweet lady!!

Well first Rissi, now you - I'm tempted to jump in and write a little letter too. Right now, actually. So enjoyed what you wrote here. So fun! Thanks for sharing. And a safe, happy travel to you!

    1. You are so welcome, Ganise! I just want other people to know how sweet you are. :)

I still haven't commented on your posts this week. But I'm planning to soon! :)

  4. Aw! Yay for the shout-out to Ganise! Glad you did that, Kara.

I sympathize with that TBR stack of books. Just when I think I'm making progress, I look at it and go, "nope. Not yet!" ;)

Sounds like you have a wonderful trip planned over the holiday! Wishing you safe travels and a nice time with family. :) Happy Independence Day!

LOL! Never thought it was a "copycat" move - it's ironic how coincidental some of these "great minds" moments are. One of my friends has blogged on two or three topics that I'd just been planning on also - I always say, "promise... I am NOT trying to copy." As you say - it's the whole great minds think alike theory. I like it. :)

    1. Oh yes. I have no idea why some books just get pushed back on my list no matter how much I'd like to read them! But it'll happen some day. I hope. ;)

Thank you, Rissi! But I'm actually not leaving for another month yet. So I still have a while to anticipate! :) That's almost half the fun of a trip sometimes, the anticipation I mean.

I think it's great when people write about the same things! You can get differing opinions, which is nice because everyone looks at the same thing differently. If that makes sense. Plus it's just kind of fun to know someone else was thinking the same thing I was! Especially when it's you, my friend. So thanks for not minding. :D

    2. Ooo! My bad - sorry about thinking your trip was sooner. Glad you are anticipating it so. I still wish you safe travels and a wonderful one. :)

True, true! For example, sometimes it may get caught up as being "repetitive" to see all of the same reviews in blogger's dashboards BUT if they are on friend's blogs, I like reading their thoughts because all books are subjective to each reader's personal preferences. And as an avid reader, each review is a reflection of a reviewer/writers likes or personality. :)

    3. Thank you, I appreciate that! :)

You have a great point, Rissi. I totally agree. I like to see what more than one reviewer has to say about a book. As you said, it reflects their likes and personality and each person usually focuses on different things that really struck them. It gives a pretty well-rounded view of a book in my opinion. Usually anyway. :)

  5. Hello Kara, Thought I'd introduce myself as a new reader of your blog! You might have seen my name around in the comments on Rissi's blog, I found yours through there. It looks like you're writing about a lot of subjects I'm interested in as well, so expect to see some comments (maybe also on some old posts as I get 'acquainted' with your blog). I don't have a blog myself (yet), I post at my LiveJournal birdienl.livejournal.com, you're welcome to have a look around there.

    1. Hi Birdienl! I have seen your comments around and thought to myself that I should see if you had a blog or whatnot, but I hadn't yet. So I'm happy you found me first! :) And I will definitely have a look around your Livejournal.

Stick around and make yourself at home! I love comments and conversation. Though perhaps I should warn you that I can get lengthy in commenting sometimes. Words and I are well acquainted. ;D

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope we can get to know each other better. If you're a reader, we should get along great. :)
