The Book Girls....

So I just read this article about the "Book Girls" and knew I needed to share it! While I am vastly in the minority over the fact that I didn't really like The Fault In Our Stars (it's ok, I'm perfectly fine being in the minority on this, no worries!), therefore what the author of the post mentions about it does not hold true for me, yet I found much to be thought about and talked about in this post. Read it yourself and let me know what you think!

  1. Kara, I'm also in the minority when it comes to TFIOS. I haven't even picked it up because of the foul language, teen sex, and not to mention the mocking of the Church. In my opinion, adding things like I've listed is not creative, just lazy.

    1. It's good to know I'm not alone then, Alyssa! I'd read such great reviews, and indeed it seems everybody else in the world just loves this book to pieces. I so agree with you about the language and the sex. It seems to glorify those for teens, which they just lap up like crazy unfortunately. :(

  2. I read this one too and I agree!
TFiOS didn't do it for me (I tried to read the book but grew bored with it and I didn't like the movie, mostly because I could see the strings they were trying to use to pull at my emotions and I disliked that) but I did love that article.

    1. Yes! Actually, I should have mentioned that you pointed me in the direction of this article, Alex. I apologize that I didn't. But I just loved the article too! Book girls for the win! :D

It's good to know I'm not the only one that didn't like TFIOS. I actually bought it anticipating that I would love it, and sadly was very disappointed. It didn't hold my attention. At all. So I returned it and used the money to buy another book. Not a bad ending after all! :)

  3. Hmm... comfy clothes? Check. Hair pulled back? Check. Gets all fangirly over authors? Check. :-)

But I haven't read TFIOS, or seen the movie. Not really into weepies, and my to-read list is already so long I'll probably never finish everything on it before I die.

    1. Yep, so many of those descriptions hold true for me as well, Hamlette! Especially the "gets fangirly over authors" part. Way too true! :D

Save yourself the disappointment and stay far away from TFIOS. It doesn't seem like one you'd enjoy at all. And there are so many other awesome books to read out there anyway! :)

    2. Thanks! I think that's exactly what I'll do :-)
