I'm sharing a song about Virginia with you today. Virginia is where I grew up so it will always be 'home' to me. :)

I've been thinking about mom a lot this week. I've decided that when I'm sick or not feeling good, I want my mother around! I know that sounds like a little kid, but mom's just know how to make you feel better. :) So of course when I think about mom, I also end up thinking about VA. Like they say, "there's no place like home!" The hills, the food, and especially the people. VA was just a pretty special place to grow up.

While on YouTube yesterday, I stumbled across this video from the VA Chamber of Commerce. This particular song spoke to my heart. It's some good old country playing and the lyrics are beautiful. I hope you enjoy! :)

TSMSS - Hope Was Born This Night

Well, 'tis officially the Christmas season. And you know what that means! Christmas music! I don't know if you like Christmas music or not, but I sure do! I love it! (Can't you tell by all my exclamation points? :) Anyway, I figured it was time to share more Christmas songs. Especially since the last time I shared one, it was still November. Now it's December. (Which I can't even believe by the way. It's crazy how fast this year has gone! I know we all say that every year, but that doesn't make it any less true!)

I chose "Hope Was Born This Night" by Sidewalk Prophets. Not a traditional Christmas song, but one that I really enjoy. This season should be filled with joy and happiness! Remembering the Christ-child who was born to bring hope to the entire world. It's a beautiful story. I sincerely hope your Christmas season is bright and cheerful and hope-filled!





PS: In case anyone was wondering, the first night of my Christmas Journey to Bethlehem thing went well enough. I did totally forget some lines at the beginning. Luckily the ones with me covered for me pretty good. I remembered the rest of my lines though. They had to cancel last night because of weather, but tonight it's on again. So I'm hoping to do much better this time. Thanks for thinking about me and praying for me if you have been. I most certainly appreciate it! :)

TSMSS - I Choose To Believe

This Sunday is my mother's birthday which is why I chose this particular song. My mother suffers from Parkinson's, which is a debilitating disease. She was diagnosed when I was quite young and did incredibly well for years and years. Then a few years ago she tripped and fell down, breaking her pelvic bone. Something about that fall threw her body out of whack (more than just a broken bone I mean) and she is now having to use a wheelchair on a daily basis (she didn't need one before). This all sounds depressing, I know. And some days it is. Actually a lot of days it is. She does have good days; that's the thing with this disease, you never know what your day will be like until you wake up that morning. Some days she has good control of her movements and other days not.  But!!!! She still gets up every morning! (There are days I don't want to get out of bed and I don't face the prospect of requiring someone to help me dress or get breakfast ready.) My mother is one of the strongest people I know. In fact, I'm positive that she has no clue how strong she really is! She is an amazing woman and I'm incredibly blessed to have her as my mother.

All that long paragraph to simply state that I chose this song because it reminds me of her. In the midst of her struggles and frustrations, she still believes in God. She still believes that He has a plan for her. She still believes that something good will come out of this, even if she can't see it, or maybe won't see it. She is a wonderful example of hope and trust to me and everyone around her. Here's to you mom! I think God picked the best one out there just for me! I love you.






{On a side note, I know this week has been pretty book review-less. I hope to have at least one coming this weekend. Just in case you were wondering.}
