A Poetic Look At My Favorite Book(s)

If you ask me for my favorite story,
I might say it's Daddy Long Legs.

If I say it's Daddy Long Legs,
I might have to show you the book.

If I show you the book,
I might tell you about Judy Abbott.

If I tell you about Judy,
You might want to read her letters.

If you read her letters,
You might learn about her friend Sallie McBride.

If you learn about her friend Sallie,
You might want to know Sallie's story too.

If you want to know Sallie's story,
I might tell you it's called Dear Enemy.

If I tell you it's called Dear Enemy,
You might want to know who the enemy is.

If you want to know who the enemy is,
I might tell you just to read the book.

If you read the book,
You might fall in love with all the orphans.

If you fall in love with all the orphans,
They might remind you about Judy.

If they remind you about Judy,
You might want to read her story again.

If you read Judy's story again,
It might become a favorite.

If it becomes a favorite,
Someone might ask about your favorite story.

If someone asks about your favorite story,
You might tell them it's Daddy Long Legs.

  1. I read that one and thought it was okay, not anywhere close to being my favorite though. I don't really have a favorite story, I've read so many really good ones!

    1. Karen, I agree that it's hard to pick just one favorite. Really hard! But these two books are ones I never get tired of reading. They always make me smile. :)

  2. What a cute post. You have me quite curious.

    1. They are fun stories, Juju! I highly recommend them if you ever get a chance to read them. :)

  3. So creative! I love "Daddy Long-legs", I haven't read "Dear Enemy" yet, but I just put it on the top of my list of books to read over the summer :) :)

    1. Thank you, Eva! I love both books. I can pretty well guarantee that if you loved Daddy Long Legs, you'll love Dear Enemy as well. I smile all the way through each book every time I read them! :D

  4. I got this one on my kindle a couple of weeks ago, but it doesn't have pictures! :( I'll have to locate an actual copy. This was an adorable post, though! ;)

    1. Thank you, Bluerose! I had fun writing it.

The pictures definitely add some laughter. I imagine Judy trying to describe what's happening and then resorting to artwork because her words just can't explain properly. ;D If you get a chance to get the actual book, it's totally worth it! At least in my opinion. I love these books!

  5. I love If You Give a Mouse a Cookie! Nicely done :-D

    1. Thanks, Hamlette! I wondered if anyone would make the connection. That story always makes me smile, then somewhere I saw this idea and had the thought to try it myself. It was so fun! :D

Thank you so much for visiting my little corner of the internet! :)
